A California sustainable clothing brand with ten years of ethical manufacturing behind them wanted to launch knitwear — but needed a specialized studio to make it happen. We handled everything: knitwear design direction, Tanguis organic cotton sourcing, knitting factory partnerships in Peru, and a category strategy built for the long game. Season one delivered a bestseller. Season two is already in development.
The Knotty Ones x AKS: Growing a Knitwear Brand from Artisan Roots to Global Reach
The Knotty Ones • 2021
A Lithuanian sustainable knitwear brand with Baltic artisan roots needed to scale into machine-knit production without losing what made them special. Over a four-year collaboration, April Knit Studio led knitwear design direction across full seasonal collections in merino wool and organic cotton — all produced in Lithuania with natural fibers. We designed the Delcia Set, which became a bestseller and helped launch the brand into the US market.

I'm Mari, the founder of April Knit Studio.
We design high-quality knitwear collections through a refined, end-to-end process built on trust, creativity, and technical expertise.
Over the years, I’ve had the chance to collaborate with brands at every stage — from first-time founders launching their dream collection to established labels scaling their knitwear programs. What they have in common is a desire for clarity, craft, and a partner who understands both the creative vision and the production reality.
